Monopoly – Once Around Deluxe – WMS

The new Monopoly slot is a 5×3 reel layout, with 15 fixed paylines, the reel strips are made up of lots of the iconic monopoly symbols that you would find on the board game. The base game also features Wilds, as well as various symbols which award pays for mixed combinations such as the Car, Dog and Boot symbols.

The main symbols to look our for though is the gold embossed Mr Monopoly (Bonus Symbol), as landing 3 or more of these on a payline actives the Once Around feature.

Once Around Feature

Once the feature is triggered players must pick a board piece (token), this doesn’t change the outcome of the bonus round unless you are very superstitious!

Once selected the player then has the option of placing side-bets on the monopoly board, these are the green houses and red hotel.

Placing side bets cost additional money, but if on your journey around the board you land on any of the properties you will be rewarded with a random bigger prize. This can vary in the range of 3x-15x right up to 70x to 180x for Old Kent road.

The reason Old Kent Road is given the biggest win potential is that given the format of how the bonus round works, this is going to be the most difficult property to land on.

Players then roll the dice and progress around the board, landing on properties and things like chance and community chest, which will award the player with cash prizes, once you pass GO for the first time the bonus round ends.

If however you land exactly on GO, or get a random reward which sends you to GO you will get a second trip (“Twice Around The World”) around the board with all prizes doubled (this does not apply to side bets), this extra feature cannot be re-triggered.

Overall Opinions

Monopoly Once Around Deluxe is visually a great looking slot and true to the board game, in our playtests we managed to hit the bonus features quite frequently, the results were on the small side but given our limited play time this isn’t conclusive.

The side bets are a novel feature, and potentially where the big wins reside, its worth noting the 5 of a kind Wild also pay a very high amount x stake size also.

The main disappointment, however, is the listed RTP (Return to Player) for this slot, the base game states 92.03% with the side bets RTP listed as 94%. For a modern day online slot we feel this is quite low, and something players should be aware of before playing.

Overall the slot seems fairly low-medium variance, so maybe will not be that noticeable in short play sessions.
