Casino Heroes has just added the brand new Double Dragons slot from Yggdrasil Gaming, this looks to be quite an interesting slot that is packed with special features, bonuses, and interesting mechanics.
The Double Dragons slot uses a regular 5×3 reel layout and comes with 25 fixed paylines, you will also notice there are a couple of different collection meters on each side of the slot, the bars on the left record your successive wins (4 required to trigger a mini bonus) and the meters on the right keep track of how many of the blue and red dragons heads you have collected, both of these features are core to the gameplay.
During base game play there is lots going, along with stacked wilds on all reels there is a tumbling reels effect that occurs after any wins, if the player manages to land 4 successive wins this will fill the meter on the left and trigger a mini bonus where lots of wild symbols are added onto random reels.
There are also 2 different coloured dragons that can land on the reels, the Red Dragon will add a number of extra wild symbols to the onto the reels, and the Blue Dragon will add a multiplier to all wins, when these special symbols land on the reels their head will also be collected and recorded in the small circular meters on the right-hand side of the slot, once these are filled up the main free spin bonus round is triggered.
In our playtests it did seem to take some time to trigger the bonus rounds, however, once the bonus meters on the right are partially filled up (either Red or Blue) the bonuses seem to come in quite steadily.
Double Dragons Slot – Bonus Features
Double Dragons Feature
If you manage to score 4 successive wins in the base game the Double Dragons feature will trigger, this adds a Red Dragon Wild and a Blue Dragon Wild onto the reels, these can be anywhere from 7 and 28 wilds in length with the head of the dragon being at the top of each stack.
Dragon Head Collection
Once you have collected 9 of the Red or Blue Dragon Heads the free spins mode is triggered and grants you 5 Free Spins, the main difference here between the base game is that only 2 successive wins are required to trigger the Double Dragon feature, hopefully making it much easier and adding big stacks of wilds onto the reels.
Overall Thoughts on the Double Dragons Slot
Overall we really enjoyed playing Double Dragons slot, certainly more than some of the previous Yggdrasil slot such as Big Blox, the slot is packed with features has some really nice animations and graphics, especially the animated Dragons rushing out from the chambers.
With lots of mini features such as the tumbling reels, double dragon feature, and the main free spins bonus round, there was always something to look out for.
With an RTP (Return to Player) of 96.0% you should have some decent playtime on Double Dragons, just make sure to give the slot some time as when you start from fresh there are 9 Dragon’s Heads to collect to trigger the free spins, and since these can be Red or Blue this can take some time.
