Dragon Wins Slot Review – A new online slot from Nextgen Gaming packed with bonus features!
The Dragons Wins slot from Nextgen Gaming is due to be released on the 13th of December 2017 along with 2 older titles that are part of the NextGen Classix portfolio Jade Idol and Cool Bananas being updated for the HTML5 mobile friendly format.
We normally find that Rizk Casino adds the new Nextgen slots very promptly to their casino on release days, and there is also another important consideration to look for if you are a fan of Nextgen slots regarding RTP that needs to be considered.
The latest releases from Nextgen Gaming seem to be released with 2 different versions available for operators to choose from, whilst gameplay and features will seem identical there are slight differences in the slots overall Return To Player (RTP) which in the long term will affect your playtime.
The 2 different RTP’s settings from Dragon Wins are 95.499% and 96.499%, whilst not a huge difference it’s worth checking through the paytable once live to make sure your casino of choice is running the highest RTP version (RTP is listed at the bottom of the paytable).
Dragons Wins Slot – Base Gameplay
The Dragon Wins slot uses an unusual 3-4-5-4-3 reel layout and comes with 40 fixed pay lines, surrounding the slot are 4 different coloured Dragons that have a special collection meters next to them.
There are 2 different free spins modes on offer that are randomly selected and offer a randomly selected number of free spins with added wilds or wild reels, along with these features there are also 4 different mini-bonuses that are activated from the base game when the special Dragon Meters are filled up.
Dragon Meters
The Dragon Meters can fill up any time a win is formed on the reels that feature that coloured Dragon, the weird thing here is that this doesn’t happen on every winning spin featuring the Dragons making the gameplay somewhat confusing for a collection type bonus feature.
There are 4 different unique mini bonus rounds on offer when these meters are filled that can also be re-triggered and offer bonuses such as Dragon Reels, Expanding Dragons, Stacked Dragons, and More Dragons features.
Check out the gameplay trailer below to see these and the free spins bonus rounds in action.

Dragon Wins Slot
Overall Opinions
Dragon Wins is being touted as a high variance slot release from Nextgen Gaming, whilst the Dragons Fire feature does offer up to 10x multiplied wins, in our playtests we really found the base game features and free spins to play out like a medium variance slot and struggled to get any wins close to 100x stake.
With all of the bonus features this sound on paper like an interesting slot to play but we found the base game lacking and the mini features very underwhelming, with added confusion as to how the collection meters seem to randomly decide when to fill up after dragon wins.
Whilst this isn’t a bad slot release by any means, there wasn’t really anything that stood out and grabbed our attention to make us want to play it further.
There is some potential with the higher variance wild reels bonus round, and the fully stacked red dragon mini-feature, but overall the gameplay just felt a little boring.
