Gods of Rock Slot - Base Gameplay
The base gameplay in Gods of Rock uses an unusual 6x5 reel layout and a new 466 Connecting Pay Ways payline structure. This means wins do not have to be formed starting from the left-hand reels only but can form in multiple places on these paylines.
Cascading wins is the major feature of offer here with new dropping symbols appearing when wins are collected in the bonus meters housed on either side of the reels.
The backdrop features a concert stage with music speakers making up a significant proportion of the symbols along with the five gods of rock. Wild symbols have been added using the rock-themed Devil Horns sign.
The Wild symbols are critical to the most significant wins on this machine. Their appearance leads to Multiplier Values being added to that specific reel (volume switch below the reels).
Wild Multipliers
Successive wild symbols landing on the same reel boosts this multiplier value further (2x, 3x etc., up to a maximum of 11x). Wilds landing on several reels can lead to multiplied multipliers where matching symbols form across them, which is where the biggest of wins (up to 20,000x can come from).
Thankfully Thunderkick has done a great job highlighting the wins. When three or more matching symbols land on any of these "Pay Ways", they are lit up with a bright gold colour that lets you know precisely what is happening.
At the core, this is a tumbling reels style machine. When wins are formed, the symbols get removed from the reels, with new symbols dropping into play. Successive wins are counted in collection meters that are on either side of the main convert stage,
When specific levels are reached, the Wild Encore feature will trigger, which sees up to 3 extra Wilds being added to reels. Further wins are needed to reach the Bonus Track level, which is the main free spins bonus round and primary objective of this slot.
The collection Meters record each individual exploded symbol that has formed any of these wins. To reach the first Wild Encore, you need to collect 30 symbols and to get the Bonus Track (free spins), you need a total of 55 collected symbols which then triggers the main bonus round!

Gods of Rock - Special Features
While the base gameplay is relatively simple and easy to understand, a few features such as the Reel Multipliers and the Wild Encore are worth understanding, particularly the fact that when several reels with multipliers are included in the same win, all multipliers are multiplied by each other!
Reel Multipliers
When a Charged Wild symbol (Devil Hands) lands on a reel, the reel multiplier increases one level to 2x (up to the maximum multiplier level of 11x). If any other pay way wins occur on this reel, they will be multiplied by the current multiplier.
To biggest wins occur when several reels with multipliers are included in the same win as all of the multipliers are multiplied by each other.
For example, 4x2=8 would lead to an 8x Multiplier being applied to all wins landed on these 2 reels with these Multipliers!
In the Base Game, this reel multiplier feature resets between each whole spin (after cascades), but during the bonus round, it doesn't reset until the bonus round ends!
It's also worth noting that the Multipliers attained from the base game are carried over to the bonus round, giving you a very potent starting set-up!
The charged wild symbols also explode once, removing some surrounding symbols and helping produce room for new fresh symbols to drop into play.
Bonus Meter
For each exploded symbol, a level is filled in the Bonus meter. When the maximum level of the Bonus Meter is reached and 55 symbols have been collected, the Free Spins bonus game is triggered, awarding a starting 8 eight free spins.
Whilst this can sound quite daunting, if you manage to collect 30 symbols, you trigger the Wild Encore feature, which via added wilds can help create lots of new wins and finally activate the bonus feature.
During the base game, the bonus meter resets after every complete spin when no more cascading wins are formed on the reels.
Wild Encore Feature
When the Wild Encore feature is triggered, you will get 1-3 Charged Wild symbols randomly added to the reels. These charged symbols can help form new wins, or if not, explode and clear out symbols for a second chance at creating new wins.
These wild symbols also add Multiplier values to the reels they land on. These values get carried into the bonus round when triggered.
Free Spins
The free spins round starts with eight free spins. To reach this bonus game feature, you first need to collect 55 symbols on the bonus collection meter. This will trigger the free spins once all wins have finished.
The same functionality and gameplay is also present during the bonus round, with wilds, multipliers, and cascading reels.
The critical difference during the free spins is that multiplier values from any Charged Wilds do not reset during the entire bonus, and the collection meter, if filled again with, grants you +3 extra free spins.
Given the crazy levels that these multiplying multipliers can reach (see earlier screenshots), it's easy to understand why a total bonus re-trigger isn't offered on this slot! And a win cap of 20,000x is in place!

The Gods of Rock is a thoroughly entertaining slot release from Thunderkic. In terms of innovation, it isn’t pushing the boundaries too far. Still, the systems used work very well and interact cleverly together, with a simple cascading reels machine, multipliers and free spins that all make sense in how they have been implemented.
The bonus trigger mechanic suits this slot perfectly. It is actually more exciting than waiting for three scatters or similar to drop in, and whilst the bonus round can be very tough to trigger (as discovered in our extended playtest with nearly 1000spins required!), there is some fantastic base game wins on offer that provides you with a much softer blow than constant 2 scatter bonus teases.
Do not underestimate how difficult this bonus round can be to trigger. It seems like quite a chunk of this slot RTP is built into the base game. The hit frequency can also be very low, but it can be a long string of successive wins since this is a cascading win machine when they come. We playtested this slot for a considerable period waited quite a while before hitting the great bonus round in the ima. This win took us back to break even and above in one bonus round, so high volatility is definitely present on this machine.
Overall the base game felt like a breath of fresh air compared to many of the recent super high variance slots, where there is nothing apart from the bonus feature to get excited about whilst playing.
