Jungle Jim Is Back for a New Adventure in the Lost Sphinx Slot!
32Red Casino has recently added the latest Microgaming slot Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx to their casino, which sees a return from our intrepid explorer this time with Stormcraft Studios doing the honours for this release.
Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx is regular 5×4 reel slot with an initial 35 fixed paylines, this will expand after several successive wins into a 5×5 reel machine with 50 paylines. Similar to the previous release you will find tumbling reels, rising multipliers and a new Win Booster option which for a premium cost will make triggering the bonus rounds much easier with just 2 scatters required on the reels although this does come with a hefty cost when selected!
With rising multiplier that reach 10x in the base game and 20x during the bonus round this slot is capable of wins of over 6000x stake, this is also helped somewhat by the special Golden Sphinx symbols which not only grants extra spins during the bonus round but will permanently raise the multiplier trail to start one level higher each time they land, making it easier to reach the crazy final 20x multiplier!
Depending on whether you are playing the base game in regular mode of having activated the Win Booster option you will need to land 2-3 scatters which will award an initial 12 free spins for the bonus round.
Keep a close eye on the cost per spin if you are contemplating the win booster options as the pays from the game remain at the regular bet levels, a £2 spin in regular mode will cost £8 with Win booster activated, the tradeoff is that you will get more bonus rounds quicker, but the base game wins will rarely cover the cost of this spin option until the bonus is triggered.
You can check out all these features in the gameplay video below.

Special Features
Win Booster
The Win Booster is activated by clicking the icon to the left of the reels, this will add one scatter that is permanently in play meaning that only 2 further scatters on the reels will be required to trigger the main bonus round.
The cost to activate this feature is 4 times the current stake level, so, for example, regular spins at £1 with then cost £4 per spin with this activated, the wins from the game, however, will only be paid out at the original bet level of £1.
Expanding Reels
When you manage to score wins in the base game and reach the 4x Multiplier Trail level the reels will then expand to a 5×5 reel set along with the paylines increasing to 50, you can also earn a free respin of the reels if no wins are created at this point giving you one extra chance of continuing to raise the multiplier trial.
Free Spins
Triggered by landing at least 3 scatters or 2 if the Win Booster is activated, you are then awarded an initial 12 free spins with a 5×5 reel 50 payline slot, the multipliers are also increased during the bonus round with the maximum level raised to 20x.
Special Spinx symbols are also active during the bonus round and will permanently increase the starting multiplier level each time they land in view as well as awarding an extra free spin each time.
Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx Slot
Overall Opinions
Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx is a reasonable release from Microgaming/Stormcraft Studios, whilst the idea of tumbling reels and rising multipliers has definitely been seen before the addition of the Win Booster is likely to appeal to players who are more impatient waiting for bonus round triggers, but beware it comes with a premium cost!
Our playtests were quite a mixed affair, initially, we definitely struggled to get any bonus rounds over 100x stake, from the screenshots you can see once the 20x multiplier is active it only takes a few decent wins to end up well over 200x stake. Also, it’s worth noting that colossal base game win is with the Win Booster Activated, so effectively this is £2 spin, in regular play this would be a 400x stake win, but with win booster active the cost per spin is £8!.
Given the huge premium for the Win Booster option, we actually preferred playing this game in the regular mode, as the base game wins generally will not cover the premium cost of this feature and could eat through a bankroll quite quickly,
Overall it may well appeal to tumbling reel fans, but for us, it lacked a real spark to make us want to choose this machine over some of classics like Gonzo’s Quest!
