Jurassic World: Raptor Riches Base Game
The base gameplay in Raptor Riches takes place on a standard 5x4 reel set and comes with just 20 fixed paylines. This goes somewhat against the current trend of Ways, Megaways and other super-high variance machines, including the original Jurassic Park and Jurassic World slot, which was a 243-way machine.
A lot of the screen real estate is taken up by a colossal jackpot wheel to the left of the reel set. This brightly coloured Jackpot feature can activate on any spin during the base or bonus gameplay.

Win Booster Feature
The first decision to make, however, is whether or not to activate the Win Booster Feature. The cost to activate is 1.5x the current bet size, so a regular bet size of €5 is increased to €7.5.
If activated, the symbol wins do not increase (in this example, they would still pay the same as the original bet size based on a €5 bet). Multipliers above the reels come into play from the Walking Wilds and increase Multiplier values in both the base game and free spins round with this feature activated.
Think of it as a "slight boost in volatility feature". With it activated, your cost to spin is increased but countered by the higher multiplier values and will provide bigger wins!

Raptor Riches - Features, Free Spins and Jackpots
Free Spins Rounds
The main free spins feature is triggered by landing three Volcano scatter symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5. Before the bonus round begins, you spin a wheel that awards the number of starting free spins.
During the bonus round, the same functionality of nudging wild reels are provided by the Indoraptor Wild stacks. When any part of an Indoraptor wild symbol lands during the bonus round, it will nudge into position, creating an entirely wild reel. This also initiates the Respin feature until all wild reels have walked off the reels.
However, the good news is that these re-spins do not count towards free spins being used, so this feature can help extend the bonus round duration when lots of respins occur.
The multiplier values above the reels are also boosted in value during the bonus round. A 20x Multiplier on the 5th respin is the maximum value if you have enabled the Win Booster feature. In regular mode, this is capped at a 10x Multiplier.
There is no re-trigger or even extra spins on offer here. What you win on the free spins wheel is your total number of free spins, although, with lots of re-spins, this can extend the bonus feature massively.
Jackpot Wheel
The Jackpot Wheel feature is present in both the base game and bonus round. There are tiny mosquitoes trapped in amber encased symbols (a nod to the original Jurassic Park slot) overlayed onto some of the regular symbols that, when landing in view, have a chance to trigger this Jackpot Wheel.

The Jurassic World: Raptor Riches slot from Microgaming/ Fortune Factory Studios is a surprisingly enjoyable slot. However, if you are looking for a super high variance machine, this is probably one to avoid, as with a max win cap of 2500x, it is a little under the current trends of what we would call super high variance.
With that aside, the simple 20 paylines and walking wilds feature combined with a rising multiplier and the option of the increased volatility from the Win Booster feature provide a thoroughly entertaining and rewarding base game.
This novel feature gets amplified during the free spins, with 20x multipliers on offer, making an exciting and potentially rewarding bonus round.
The Jackpots, whilst offering wins of up to 2500x, may tempt some players in, but certainly, we felt we didn’t need the Jackpot feature and were more way more interested in triggering the free spins round for that kind of big win excitement and anticipation.
If I had the option, I would have swapped the Jackpot feature out for more bonuses, extra base game features, or just bigger wins from the free spins in a heartbeat or made sure it didn’t take up as much room on the screen in regular play!
Overall though, we enjoyed playtesting this slot, which we weren’t expecting initially. The basic features work well together and keep the base game exciting and engaging whilst waiting for the main bonus features to trigger!
