We Check out Pirate’s Charm, Is It a Resounding Yarrr! Or an Aaaarrrrgggghhhh! Release From Quickspin?
Plenty of new slots have been added to Videoslots Casino recently including Silver Lioness 4x (Lightning Box), Top Strike Championship (Nextgen) and Quickspin’s latest release Pirate’s Charm which we will be taking a closer look at here.
With a theme set on the high seas, Pirate’s Charm sets out on an adventure in search of some special Mystery Charm symbols that when found will transform on the reels revealing matching symbols and hopefully creating wins.
When these special symbols land on the reels they quickly spin round and then pick one of the paytable symbols, this symbol is then applied to all of the Charm symbols that are visible on the reels.
Using a regular 5×3 reel layout Quickspin has adopted a 243-way payline format meaning it’s quite easy to spot those winning combinations as they land, whilst the 5 of a kind wins aren’t anything to write home about(maximum 5x stake) given the maximum 243-ways there is still some decent potential.
To keep things interesting in the base game there is a Mystery Charms Re-Spin Feature which can activate randomly and requires the Mystery Charm symbols to land in view on the first 3 reels to trigger. When this base game feature activates the Charm symbols are held in place on the reels and re-spins are granted, with any further Charm symbols landing in view on the re-spins repeating the process.
The main bonus round is triggered by landing 3 of the special Ship Scatter symbols on the middle 3 reels, and this is where things get interesting as the special Charm symbols are held in place for the entire bonus round and extra bonus spins are possible too!
Make sure to check out all of Pirate’s Charms bonus features in the gameplay video below.
|Pirate's Charm Slot – Technical Summary|
|Re-Trigger Bonus Round||Extra Spins|
|Special Features||Free Spins
Mystery Charm Re-Spins
|RTP (Return To Player)||96.49%|
Mystery Charm Respins
The Mystery Charm Re-Spins are activated when these special symbols land on reels 1-3 in the base game, all of the Charm symbols in view then become locked in place and a respin of the reels is granted.
The re-spin process continues if further Charm symbols land on the reels during the next re-spin and end when no new charms land on the reels.
During base gameplay the Mystery Spin can activate, you will notice it by a slowing of the reels, during the Mystery Spin many more of the Charm symbols are added to the reels giving you a higher chance of triggering the Charm respin feature.
Storming Free Spins
The free spins round is triggered by landing 3 of the Ship Bonus Scatter on the reels awarding an initial 10 free spins.
During the bonus round any of the Mystery Charms symbols that land on the reels is locked in place for the duration of the bonus round.
Filling an entire reel with Mystery Charms will also grant you with 2 extra spins each time a reel becomes filled with mystery charms, so whilst no full re-trigger is possible you can earn up to 10 extra spins during the bonus round.
Pirate's Charm Slot
Pirate’s Charm is another highly polished release from Quickspin, the graphics and sounds are very well done and the base game and bonus round features offer some decent excitement and win potential.
Hardcore players may be somewhat disappointed though as in general the Quickspin releases do tend to be on the low to medium variance side, this seems to hold true for Pirate’s Charm, so whilst the design is stunning the win potential may be a little lacking for seasoned players.
In our playtests, we managed an overall 80x stake win from the base game Charm Feature, the bonus rounds generally resulted in wins from the 15x range up to 75x stake levels and the bonus rounds seemed fairly regular.
Overall though if you are looking for a decent Pirate-themed slot with some interesting mechanics then this is well worth checking out, Yarrr for the Design and a minor Arrggh for the overall paytable.
