The Renegades slot is a usual 5×3 reel 243-way title that uses a new feature called MEGA SYMBOLS which are larger symbols (up to 3-rows-high x 3-reels-across) along with a lock & spin feature that can clump matching symbols together to form MEGA SYMBOLS. Needless to say, the base game looks quite bizarre in comparison to a regular 243-way slot with symbols spanning over several reels at times.
There are 5 main characters who act as the highest paying symbols on the reels Harriet Hellstorm, Raffaela Blaze, Ivy Sabreclaw, Valda Dragonslayer and the highest paying symbol Freya Valkyrie of Valhalla.
The base game although having an unusual reel layout is fairly straightforward, the lock & spin feature can be quite rewarding but the free spins bonus round is where the most excitement occurs.
The bonus round is triggered by landing 3 scatters anywhere on the reels, and just like other symbols, these can be symbols that actually cover more than 1 reel but will act as 2 scatters.

Free Spins Round
Once the bonus round is triggered you are then taken to a Character Selection screen where 1 of the 5 Renegades will be chosen at random for the bonus round, you are awarded an initial 8 free spins and the bonus round can also be re-triggered.
Once the Renegade has been selected all of the other Renegade symbols are then removed from the reels and replaced with just the selected Renegade symbol which hopefully makes it a little easier to line up some decent 5 of a kind wins.
The lock & spin feature also seems to trigger a lot more frequently given the number of matching character symbols now present on the reels.

The Renegades slot is a decent medium variance slot from Nextgen, certainly, the reel layout and Mega Symbols are something a little different from them.
The paytable, however, seems to be on the fairly low end with the top 5 of a kind symbol paying just 200 coins, so expect the biggest wins to come from close to a full screen of matching symbols in the bonus rounds.
