Mr Green Casino has recently added the new Wilhelm Tell slot from Yggdrasil Gaming, or as he would be known in the UK William Tell, based on the story of him shooting an apple off his son’s head.

In terms of the slot, Yggdrasil has created a cartoon stylised machine with a regular 5×3 reel layout and 20 fixed paylines,  the famous archery shot with the apple on his sons head is included as a special nudging wild reel that can nudge into place covering the entire reel with a wild symbol, and this can appear on every single reel. These nudges actually only occur when a guaranteed win is going to be created.

Apart from the Wilhelm Tell Nudging wild reels, there isn’t really any other base game features of note, apart from triggering the bonus game with 3 or scatters.

The free spins do offer a significant increase to the volatility of this slot though, with 3 options of various multipliers and free spins on offer, you can opt for a less volatile 10 free spins with a 5x Multiplier, or the extremely volatile 1 free spins with a 50x Multiplier!, the final option sits nicely in between these two ranges!

Although the introduction of the huge 50x multiplier does give this slot some huge win potential, the reality is that the less volatile free spins options seem to struggle to create more than 100x wins, and certainly, in our playtests it can be an incredibly frustrating bonus round if you opt for 1 spin and it results in no-win after spending a hundred spins in the base game to get the bonus round.

Unlike William Tell, this slot really does seem to have missed the mark in terms of being an enjoyable slot to play!
